Akbari Long Pistachios can be considered the longest and largest pistachio cultivar, and it is even longer than Ahmad Aghaei pistachio. The Story of Akbari Pistachio

In ancient times, in the city of Anar, there was a man named Akbar. This Mr. Akbar crossbred different pistachio trees, searching for a superior tree, and the result of his work was a tree with long and very popular pistachios. The pistachio that was later named Akbari, after its breeder Mr. Akbar Tajabadi. From that day on, the people of the city of Anar stopped breeding Kalle Ghoochi and Fandoghi pistachios and started breeding Akbari pistachios, and this pistachio became famous worldwide. Currently, the city of Anar has 35 thousands hectares of pistachio gardens, and it yields 1,000 to 1,200 kilograms per hectare.

Properties of Akbari pistachio

This cultivar has a high chilling requirement in winter and is more resistant to frost; however, it is not popular in tropical areas due to this reason. Among the physical characteristics of this cultivar, we can mention the high growth rate, high leaf vein density, and wide leaf area. Moreover, this cultivar has a high yield potential. It is a late flowering and late fruiting cultivar, and it can be harvested in the middle of September; thus, it suffers more damage from heat. This cultivar has an average height of three meters. Regarding the fruits, the length and the width of the dry pistachio are high, and it has a rectangular shape, the dry weight of the nut is also high.
